Admissions, Fees & Sessions
Whitchurch Preschool is a term time only setting and is registered to accept children from the age of two. There are at least two members of teaching staff per session qualified to Level 3 or above.
The preschool is in partnership with Devon County Council.
2 year old funding
We are registered to accept 2 year old funding for families with 2 year old children who are eligible. Parents should check eligibility online at Devon’s Citizen’s Portal or via www.childcarechoices.gov.uk or by phoning 0345 155 1013. Confirmation of eligibility by message, email or letter will need to be provided as proof of eligibility.
3 and 4 year old funding
All children are entitled to 15 hours of free nursery provision from the term following their third birthday. You may also be entitled to a further 15 hours of funding (extended entitlement funding) if you are working parents and certain criteria are met. You can apply for this extra funding via www.childcarechoices.gov.uk You will be given an 11 digit code to use if eligible.
In addition to this, the setting is able to claim the Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) and Disability Allowance Funding (DAF) for eligible children.
Non-funded hours
Non-funded hours are currently charged at:
£7.50 per hour for 2 year olds during the term of their second birthday.
£6.50 per hour for 2 and 3 year olds from the term after their 2nd birthday.
£6.00 per hour for 3 and 4 year olds from the term after their 3rd birthday.
Parents must ensure that they sign the Early Years Funding Form each term in order to receive early years funding if eligible. Following this, invoices for non-funded hours are issued. Payment can be made online, in cash or by cheque payable to Whitchurch Preschool.
The administrator can arrange differing payment terms as required.
If payments are not received, the preschool reserves the right to withdraw hours which are non-funded.
What happens if my child is ill?
If your child has an illness such as a cough or cold, but is feeling well enough to come to preschool, they are welcome to attend. If they feel unwell or are ill enough to warrant medicine such as Calpol, then they are probably better off at home tucked up in the warm.
Any children with stomach upsets are asked to stay away for 48 hours after the last bout to avoid infecting others.
If you are going to keep your child at home, or are uncertain whether your child’s illness is excludable please contact a member of staff.
Fees are not refunded due to holidays or sickness.
Our Administrator, Linda Becker, can be contacted on the preschool email
whitchurchpreschool@yahoo.co.uk with any questions regarding funding.
All registrations are dealt with in date order for each term. Preferences for sessions are taken into account and we try to accommodate all requirements. Where additional sessions become available, these will be offered on a first come, first served basis.

Lunch Club
If children are having their lunch at Preschool, they bring their own packed lunch and can either stay after a morning session or arrive before an afternoon session, or for a full day, giving parents additional flexibility. Please inform staff of any allergies or dietary requirements. We promote healthy eating and ask that no sweets are included in packed lunches. We have a ‘no nuts’ policy due to children with allergies.
Children are asked to bring along a healthy snack with them for mid-morning such as rice cakes, cheese and crackers, veg sticks or fruit. Children are provided with a drink of either milk or water.
We ask that all children bring a bottle of water to preschool, labelled with their name, so that they can have free access to drinking water throughout the session.
